5 Quick DIYs with Essential Oil

We all knew and heard of the versatility of essential oils. But I bet you did not know how you can make all these necessities, RIGHT at home, using a few simple ingredients, add essential oils, which we need and use every single day.

Here are a few DIY recipes for home and hygiene essentials:

1. Skin Balm for Pain Relief

Ingredients:

6 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil

5 drops of Tea Tree Oil

5 drops of Bergamot Oil

5 drops of Lemon Oil

3 ounces of Coconut Oil

Instructions:

The procedure is fairly easy to do. First, add in the raw coconut oil in a mixing bowl. Then start dropping the essential oils in droplets as you blend the mixture. Once all the contents have been added, you stir-blend it until the mixture forms a consistent texture.

The added value of the antibacterial agents in some of these essential oils will really help, and the added soothing effect of the peppermint and lemon oil will surely help you achieve total tranquility.

2. Homemade Perfume

Ingredients:

2½ tablespoons carrier oil

6 tablespoons of 100 proof vodka(190-proof would be best)

2½ tablespoons distilled water

9 drops of top notes

15 drops of middle notes

6 drops of base note

Instructions:

**Follow the instructions accurately

Pick the bottle you will be composing the perfume in, and add the carrier oil, followed by the base, then the middle and finally the top notes.

Essential Oil

Now for the second step, add the alcohol. Now for the lengthy part- let the mixture sit for at least 2 days, or you can go up to 1.5 months. It’s kind of like aged wine, just won’t take you THAT long.

Whenever in the timeframe you find the desired scent, add in the water and start shaking the bottle vigorously for about 1 whole minute. You can happily squirt away, as you leave home smelling fresh and great.

3. Face Scrub

Ingredients:

1 cup brown sugar

3 drops of lavender essential oil

¼ cup turmeric

1 ounce of cocoa butter

2 ounces of coconut oil

2 ounces grapeseed oil

2 tablespoon activated charcoal(powdered

Vanilla Bean seeds

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 275 F. Put the cocoa butter and coconut oil in an oven-proof bowl. Let it heat in the oven for a small couple of minutes, until the mixture is molten.

Add ice to an empty bowl and drain the liquid oil mixture into it. Start stirring the batter as you slowly add in the grapeseed oil. Leave it for the oils to get less warm.

N.B- Make sure the oil mixture doesn’t get cooled entirely, or you won’t be able to add in the rest of the ingredients.

Now start stirring the oil mixture as you add small amounts of sugar at a time. Follow up with the activated charcoal and keep on stirring until the mixture cools down.

There you have it, your very own activated charcoal face wash, made at home.

4. Bath Salt

Ingredients:

6 parts Red Hawaiian Salt

3 parts Epsom Salt

14 drops of essential oil

1 cup baking soda

Instructions:

The direction to cook homemade bath salts is rather easy compared to the other DIY recipes I provided.

Add the salts and baking soda to a bowl and mix them well. Once the precipitates have been mixed, start adding in the essential oil with your preferred aroma.

PRO TIP: Use an antibacterial essential oil like tea tree or oregano.

5. Body Butter

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of honey

¾ cup mango butter

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons of orange zest

7 drops of essential oil

Instructions:

Start with adding the oils and the butter in a bowl. Preheat the oven to 275 F, and then add the butter, so they melt in a couple of minutes.

Once the butter and the oils are an oily mixture, start adding in the Red Hawaiian and Epsom Salts, as you stir.

When the constituents are mixed and almost cold, add in the essential oil drops, along with the honey and stir a few times and voila, you have your very own Body Butter.

To be noted: Since no preservatives are used in these recipes, it would be best to use within a week or week and a half.
