This year, no less than 14 of the best and brightest stars wore Dolce & Gabbana on the red carpet.
Dolce & Gabbana at the Globes
While every look from these legendary designers is worth its own conversation, there were four designs that not only showed sartorial excellence but captured the unique essence of the stars who wore them.
1. Annette Bening
Annette Bening has had a storied film career that has garnered her several awards and nominations for several more. This year the 65-year-old actress was nominated for her performance in the film “Nyad”. Bening is known for her fashion sense and often chooses menswear-inspired looks.
At this year’s Globes, Bening wore a Dolce & Gabbana tailored, double-breasted, black tuxedo with satin lapels and pocket flaps. She accessorized with D&G as well with a sparkling handbag and sling-back heels.
2. Fantasia Barrino
Miss Barrino’s fantastical attire at the Globes was nothing short of inspiring. She sported a black velvet corset top with matching opera gloves and a two-layer skirt that was a bejeweled silver around the hips and flared into a layer of pale purple.
The skirt’s bottom tier was a sartorial nod to her newest film. “The Color Purple” for which she was nominated for a Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy award.
3. Angela Bassett
Angela Basset has a flawless sense of style. The Dolce & Gabbana dress that she chose for this year’s ceremonies was elegant, sexy and reminiscent of Hollywood’s Golden Age. The actress was statuesque in a black velvet, off-the-shoulder, long-sleeved gown.
The dress hugged her figure lovingly to the knees where it flared into a subtle mermaid skirt with a modernate train. Last year Basset made history by winning a Globe for her portrayal of Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther – Wakanda Forever” and this year’s red carpet look was worthy of royalty.
4. Dame Helen Mirren
Speaking of acting royalty, you don’t get more regal than Dame Helen Mirren. With a career spanning more than 50 years, this British actress has portrayed both Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II. She has won numerous awards and accolades as well as well as the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
Known for her feisty personality and refusal to be categorized by her age, Mirren’s Dolce & Gabbana gown epitomized her stature and free spirit. She walked the red carpet in a lavender silk gown that featured a shirred bodice and a draped wrap column skirt. Her overcoat was taffeta in a deeper lavender with a contrasting pink lining.
