Heating & Plumbing London creates beautiful lifestyle accessories to keep you warm, dry & cosy. No matter what’s going on in your busy life or how the weather might surprise you, our colourful designs and touchy-feely materials will bring back a smile to your face and a spring in your step.
The idea of the brand came about on a chilly day in November 2016, whilst strolling along the Thames. The day turned out to be colder than expected and we started longing for a cosy fireplace, warm blankets and snug socks.
And, just as it began raining, a heating & plumbing van parked in front of us, and voilà: the brand was born.
Brijesh Patel, co-founder of Heating & Plumbing London explains:
“The stunning Geometrical Checks Wool & Wax picnic blanket design is inspired by vintage fashion from the late 19th Century and has been translated into a picnic blanket weave with modern aesthetics. We have designed a unique blanket that folds instead of a traditional roll resulting in a slim bundle that sits flat like a purse or a bag, held in a bespoke leather should carrying straps”.
The long shoulder leather carrying strap is hand crafted in London, leaving hands free for other picnic essentials!
Attention to detail is very important for Heating & Plumbing London and so is minimising the carbon footprint which means that they make all belts at a leathersmith workshop which is a few miles away from the design studio in London!
Brijesh fruther highlights the essential feature of this new launch:
“The Wool & Wax Edition is our most eco-friendly picnic blanket to date.
The polyester backing has been replaced with waxed organic cotton backing, making this a blanket with smart eco credentials with a strong element of British heritage & craftsmanship.”
Heating & Plumbing London source organic cotton approved by the OCS (the Organic Cotton Standard is the International textile standard that assists in proving the agricultural origin of cotton) and by the Better Cotton Initiative.
With a tighter weaving and a higher density of wool, the blanket is made to last. Heating & Plumbing London wool is mulesing-free. The top layer is 100% Pure New Wool.
Waxed cotton was initially created for the Tea Clippers in the 15th century when sailors had to fight natural elements on the high seas.
Re-designed in the British Highlands for the country sport of sailing, this luxury material has been part of the British lifestyle for generations.
Heating & Plumbing London is all about colourful, tactile and playful accessories.
From design to manufacturing, we are keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible and we take it very seriously.
So we are very proud to share with you the following facts:
From their London studio, the furthest manufacturer is just over 500 miles away and nearest artisan workshop is under 8 miles away!
We have worked hard to source local mills, workshops and leathersmiths with whom we have built long standing relationships. We are supporting the British manufacturing heritage as well as doing our best to reduce our carbon footprint. We are all about creating beautiful accessories with the planet in mind!
