LIMITED EDITION TOG X LESTRANGE 17cm SANTOKU KNIFE

LESTRANGE X TOG

Inspired by the versatility of LESTRANGE’s modular wardrobe, TOG has created a limited run of just 50 numbered Santoku multipurpose kitchen knives – the most versatile knife in the kitchen. These knives are crafted with a 95% recycled steel blade and a distinctive micarta handle created from LESTRANGE’s regenerative cotton trouser off-cuts. The production of LESTRANGE’s new regenerative cotton serves to restore and improve the biodiversity of soil from which the cotton is grown. TOG has used waste off-cuts of this exciting new fabric and laminated it with bio-resin (which uses biobased raw materials that are co-products or waste products) to make a micarta material. This is an incredibly hard, tough, waterproof material that will last at least a lifetime.

TOG blades are forged from layers of highest quality stainless steels and copper which gives them strength as well as their incredible edge retention. ‘Santoku’ in Japanese means ‘three virtues’, relating to its proficiency with meat, fish and vegetables (or with mincing, slicing and dicing). This multipurpose knife is the most versatile of all knives and an essential piece of kit for every kitchen.

LESTRANGE X TOG

TOG Knives was built on a desire to create the perfect kitchen knife for Western cooking. To this aim, TOG has combined British design and Japanese craftsmanship. The range of innovative kitchen knives are made in Seki, the Samurai sword capital of the world, using methods evolved from 800 years of swordmaking tradition. Eight craftsmen are needed to make a Samurai sword, each a specialist in one part of the process. That is how to achieve the absolute best quality. TOG follows the same philosophy. The blades are passed between eight tiny, specialised companies in Seki. Each knife is unique, and each blade is numbered in celebration of these differences. The new limited edition Santoku knife joins TOG’s collection of seven other kitchen knives all designed to meet the needs of every kitchen from keen home cook to Michelin star chef. TOG Knives also has a range of handmade chopping boards, knife sharpening and storage products (including a knife block and racks), and a selection of Japanese folding knives. TOG reduces the environmental impact of its products by using recycled, reclaimed and renewable materials in their designs, and offers a lifetime guarantee, knife sharpening tools and skills to ensure its products last a lifetime and beyond.
