Most people start a Phuket boat search with a destination: Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay, the islands to the south. The decision that sets the budget comes one step later, and it is the type of boat.
An independent guide, Phuket Rating, put one table of 84 boats together for the 2026/27 season, and it makes the pattern easy to see. Every price below is for the whole boat with its crew, not per person.
The starting prices by type
For a full day, the cheapest speedboat or long-tail starts at ฿33,900 and the cheapest sailing catamaran at ฿34,900.
Motor yachts start at ฿39,900 under 60 ft, ฿69,000 between 60 and 80 ft and ฿95,000 above 80 ft. Power catamarans start at ฿48,900. At
the very top, one day costs ฿588,500.
The middle of each group
Starting prices only show the floor. The median full day is ฿46,900 on a sailing catamaran, ฿70,000 on a speedboat, ฿77,400 on a power catamaran and ฿140,000 on a motor yacht. So a speedboat, often seen as the budget option, usually costs more for a whole
day than a sailing catamaran.
What the mix looks like
Of the 84 boats, 41 are motor yachts, 18 power catamarans, 14 sailing catamarans and 9 speedboats, with one long-tail and one sailing yacht.
Motor yachts dominate the choice, so the size bands inside that group matter more than the label “yacht”.
Ask how many guests the price covers
The headline rate often covers fewer people than the boat can take, and each extra guest adds a fee.
For 20 guests on a full day, the table shows ฿50,900 on a 48 ft power catamaran, ฿55,400 on a 45 ft sailing catamaran and ฿156,000 on an 89 ft
motor yacht. For a large group, a big catamaran can cost a third of a motor yacht for the same day.
Half days come in two lengths
56 of the 84 boats offer a half day, from ฿18,900. On 33 of them it is four hours, on 23 it is five. Compare quotes by the hour, not by the word “half”.
The peak is not one date
68 boats list a peak rate, a median of 20 percent above their lowest full day, but the peak windows differ: the table counts ten of them, and the longest runs from 15 December to 28 February. Ask which window your dates fall into.
Staying the night
46 boats list two days and one night, from ฿100,000 to ฿900,000.
Where they leave from
25 of the boats are based at Ao Po Grand Marina, 20 at Chalong Pier, 17 at Boat Lagoon Marina and 14 at Royal Phuket Marina. Chalong is the short start for the southern islands; Ao Po is the usual start for Phang Nga Bay.
Pick the type first, then the size, then the date. Once those three are fixed, two quotes for the same day are finally comparable.
